music / radiohead — the king of limbs
design / stanley donwood + dr. tchock
illustration / stanley donwood
It’s Pi Day today so I was inspired to do goodle for it. I was too lazy to put all the digits that comprise a Pi so I just spelled the word “etc” to compensate :-)
music / the decemberists — the king is dead
design + illustration / carson ellis
photography / autumn de wilde
I ordered The Decemberists’ new album “The King Is Dead” in its Deluxe Edition form. I’m a huge fan of Autumn De Wilde’s photography (we share a common love for Polaroids) so this is a :must-have: on my collection. The package is limited to 2500 and you get the following: 180gm white vinyl, the CD, the making-of DVD, 1 of 2500 original Polaroid print by Autumn De Wilde, a book that contains 250 Polaroid shots of the band by Autumn De Wilde with illustrations by Carson Ellis (another favourite illustrator of mine). It’s a bit pricey but the amount of work that was put into it makes it worth your every penny.
website / gowalla
as far as location-aware, social websites are concerned, i personally use foursquare. but website design awesomeness goes to gowalla. their combination of childlike drawings, catchy icons and striking color palettes make first-time visitors sign-up on their site without second thoughts (that would include me lol). as a web designer myself, i could imagine all the brainstorming and wireframing that went to gowalla’s killer web design. thumbs up!
